Sinulog is the one big event that held here in Cebu City.And it celebrates in the third week of January to honor Sto.Niño,or the child Jesus,who use to be the patron saint of the whole province of Cebu.It is fundamentally a dance ritual w/c remembers the Filipino people's pagan past and their recognition Christianity. It is a grand display of colorful and festive dancing with various contingents from all over Cebu and other provinces in extravagant costumes dancing to the beat of the Sinulog. During the event, thousands or even millions of tourists and devotees flock to Cebu City to witness and join the festivities. Due to the festive season it is necessary that you plan in advance.
Recently, the cultural event has been commercialized as a tourist attraction and instead of traditional street-dancing from locals, Sinulog also came to mean a contest highlighting groups from various parts of the country. The Sinulog Contest is traditionally held in the Cebu City Sports Complex, where most of Cebu's major provincial events are held.
It so fun because there are artists I have seen.Like Kim Chui,Sir Chief,Coco Martin,etc.I also assumed the tatto in my body as a symbol that we celebrate Sinulog.And in the years to arise celebrates the Sinulog will hopefully still be as fun as this year 2013.
